The TOEFL\u00ae test has been helping students achieve\ntheir dreams of university study for more than 50 years. Since its launch in\n2005, the TOEFL iBT\u00ae version of the test has been the premier 4-skills test of\nEnglish proficiency. In the pursuit to give test takers and score users the\nbest experience, we are happy to introduce phase I of \u2018Better Test Experience\u2019\nwhich is an effort to improve the TOEFL iBT\u00ae without sacrificing test quality\nor validity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beginning August 1, 2019, all TOEFL iBT\u00ae test takers\nwill benefit from enhancements to the test format and score reporting, and\neasier registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Better Test Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Better Test Experience are the changes to TOEFL iBT\u00ae\nthat support students\u2019 pursuit of higher education. It is an endeavour to\nprovide students and institutions better TOEFL iBT\u00ae experience with respect to\nthe registrations, test time and score report. Phase I of Better Test\nExperience includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1. MyBest™ Scores <\/strong>(also known as\n\u201csuperscores\u201d) \u2013 Shows the best performance of a test taker<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2. Shorter Test<\/strong> – Less testing time; same\nhigh-quality results<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3. Easier Registration<\/strong> \u2013 Upgraded\nregistration website to improve user experience<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n DETAILS ON THE UPGRADES:<\/strong> A majority of students take the TOEFL\ntest more than once to get better scores in the sections that they might lack\naccording to the requirements of the university they try to get into. Also, the\nuniversity prefers the maximum scores obtained by the student in all the\nsections rather than going through all the scores of each attempt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Therefore, a recent update has been\nmade where the students can show their best overall test performance to\ninstitutions making important admissions decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This latest inclusion in Phase I are:Combination of best scores for each section from all valid TOEFL iBT scores from the previous two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Score reports will include both MyBest scores and the traditional scores from the selected test dates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This feature includes all score reports sent after August 1, regardless of the Admission test date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Benefits of MyBest™ Scores:<\/strong> -MyBest scores can be used alone, or in conjunction with single test date scores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n -It widens the pool of qualified applicants as more students can meet an institution\u2019s score requirements when they show their best performance across all of their TOEFL iBT\u00ae tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n -Using MyBest scores is easy as there is no need to change score requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n -The TOEFL iBT score scale (0-30 for each section; 0-120 total) does not change. Previously, the TOEFL IBT test took\nabout 4 hours to complete. At minimum, the TOEFL IBT lasted 3 hours and 10\nminutes. At maximum, it took 4 hours and 20 minutes. The length varied because\nthe Reading section could take from 60 to 100 minutes, and the Listening\nsection varied from 60 to 90 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n TOEFL is the test to evaluate the\nEnglish proficiency of the individual. It is not necessary to take too long.\nAlthough, English proficiency can also be checked with a fewer number of\nquestions, there were a lot of questions in the reading, listening and speaking\nsections that made this test too lengthy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
