Getting a perfect 9 in IELTS reading isn\u2019t easy. It\nrequires perfection. You already use a number of reading styles in everyday\nlife. The normal reading styles that you use for reading books or novels are in\na more detailed way. Reading exams like that of IELTS, you do not need to focus\non every single detail of the passage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given are some ways to improve your reading skills to score aces in the IELTS reading section.

1. Develop your speed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is very important to increase the\nspeed with which you read. To increase your reading speed, you do not need to\nconcentrate on every single word. An average reader reads with a speed of\n240-300 words per minute and fixes an eye on every word individually. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 To increase the speed, try to read only 4-5 words in a single fixation. It does not lead to a loss of understanding and helps to increase the speed. Use clear reading goals and be focused. Do not lose the understanding of the passage.

2. Focus on important points<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While reading a passage, do not focus\non every single word. Keep your eye on the important points and the keywords\nthat will help you answer your questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, you do not have to read the whole passage. First, go through the questions that are given at the end of the passage and then find the keywords linked to the question in the passage. This will help you answer most of the question quicker than usual.

3. Enhance your vocabulary<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reading passages rely on a\ncombination of vocabulary, context and the interaction of words. Therefore, you\nneed to enhance your vocabulary. If you do not understand the words in the\npassage, you might lose the meaning of the context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
