\u201cWe\u2019ve got to admit the truth, that wealthy inequality\nhas progressed to such a degree that it isn\u2019t fair to look at test scores\nalone,\u201d Mr. Coleman, the College Board CEO said. \u201cYou may look at them in\ncontext of the adversity students\u2019 face.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through the recent surveys, it has been noted that the\nstudents with privileged backgrounds score much higher on standardized test\nthan the students who face more hardships. The privileged students have access\nto various resources and they take full advantage of these benefits to score\nhigher. On the other hand, the poor or the underprivileged students do not have\naccess to a lot of resources to. They have to work really very hard with the\nlimited sources to get the required scores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The College Board is planning to give adversity scores\nto every student who appears for SAT to try and capture their social and\neconomic background. The students will not receive these scores, but the\ncollege they have applied in, will get these scores while reviewing the\napplication. These scores allow the colleges to glean some of the information\nfrom other parts of student\u2019s application and helps make comparisons more\nconsistent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last year, fifty colleges used these scores as a part\nof the beta test. Now, the College Board is planning on expanding it to 150\nColleges this fall and expanding more broadly in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
