How to ace the IELTS speaking section?<\/em><\/p>\n

IELTS<\/strong> stand for the International English Language Testing System<\/strong>, which is devised to check an individual\u2019s comprehension of the English language. It is a properly designed test that contains four different modules, each created to effectively analyze the communicative abilities of the candidate whose native language is not English. One of the most crucial sections of this exam is the Speaking section.<\/p>\n

Here are some key tips to help you through the IELTS speaking-section:<\/h3>\n

It can sometimes be very tough for non-native English speakers to secure a good band score owing to the fact that one tends to hesitate and develop lack of confidence when it comes to communicating in a language that one is not used to. Therefore, a candidate must always go prepared for his IELTS Speaking section and the first thing to follow is the breakdown of the structure of the test. The test comprises of three parts:<\/p>\n

Part I: Introduction and Interview<\/h2>\n

This section lasts for duration of 4-5 minutes. In this part, a candidate gets a chance to freely communicate about him or anything he likes to the interviewer. This gives a motivating start to him and he can easily showcase his command over the language to him without any nervousness. Make sure you make your first impression really worth remembering.<\/p>\n

Part 2: Short Talk<\/h2>\n

The duration of the short talk is 3-4 minutes. Here he is given a topic of the examiner\u2019s choice and he is given 1 or 2 minutes to prepare for it. The topic given is in consideration with his life experiences so that he can freely communicate on it for 1 or 2 minutes fluently to the examiner.<\/p>\n

Part 3: Two-way Discussion<\/h2>\n

The two-way discussion is for a total of 4-5 minutes. In this section, the candidate is questioned about the things that he spoke in section 2.Here his opinion, control of language and ideas is kept under check. One must try to give a bit longer answers in this section than in the previous one.<\/p>\n

As per the structure of the speaking session mentioned above, the whole speaking interview lasts for 11-14 minutes in total. The best part about IELTS is that the examiners are specially qualified and trained accordingly to rate the spoken English on the IELTS scale. They are generally clear and very encouraging, so that the candidate can do his\/her best on the day of the test. The examiners are fully aware about the fact that candidates tend to get nervous therefore they provide a calm atmosphere to them and assess only on what they hear from the candidate. The examiners rate the language one uses on a scale of 1-9 in four crucial areas: fluency, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation.<\/p>\n
